Community Shops Fund

Closing date for Applications is 26th october 2025.

Do you, your community group or organisation need funds?

New funding is now available for eligible organisations and young people based in, or providing services and activities in Haltwhistle and its surrounding parishes.

In Spring 2023, Haltwhistle Partnership took over the running of two charity shops with the agreement that surplus funds would be given back to the community.  Now, thanks to the generous donations of goods we receive and with the support of our customers, a Fund has been set up to help community projects in the area.

Grants will be awarded by a Panel made up of local volunteers and members of Haltwhistle Partnership.  The Fund will be administered by Haltwhistle Partnership.

HOW IT WORKS

The Fund is open to new and existing community projects that benefit residents in Haltwhistle and its surrounding parishes.  We welcome all eligible applications, however, ideas that benefit young people, the local environment and projects which may attract additional funding to the town are of particular interest.

There are two main grant funds:

General grant fund – for applications up to £10,000

Young Person's fund – for applications up to £500

Please read our Eligibility Criteria below and Application Guidance notes below before applying.

We invite applications from young people aged up to 25 to develop talents and experience opportunities that would otherwise be out of their reach.  See the Application Guidance notes on the Young Person’s Application form.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applications are open to newly formed, or existing community groups, clubs, not-for-profit or voluntary organisations and young people up to the age of 25.  You must be providing services and activities that benefit Haltwhistle and/or its 10 surrounding parishes, or provide personal enhancement opportunities to young people.

Grants will not be awarded to/for:

  • Projects outside the grant boundary
  • Commercial/profit making enterprises
  • Deficit or retrospective funding
  • Projects that only benefit one individual (exception of Young Person’s fund)
  • Schemes that are considered a statutory responsibility
  • Commercial or sponsored events
  • Any element of commercial profit
  • Political or ideological activities
  • Sponsorship and/or funding raising events

We reserve the right to reject any application that does not comply with the above eligibility criteria.
