The Haltwhistle Partnership is delighted to be supporting South Tyne Sustainability (STS) and the Haltwhistle Swimming and Leisure Centre (HSLC) in facilitating HSLC to apply for funding from the Governemnt's new Rural Communities Energy Fund (RCEF) for a feasibility study into extracting heat from the mineworkings that lie under Haltwhistle. Up to £40,000 is available for the first phase of the feasibility and if the application is successful it is hoped that the project will be underway in the new year starting with an energy audit of HSLC and research into the mines underneath and adjacent to the centre.

Great news! The application was successful and we look forward to receiving the offer letter and starting the project early in the new year.
