Page 2 of 3 The Coanwood Friends Meeting House (Quaker): Stands in a remote upland valley, on the road to Whitfield. Of the many l8th century Meeting Houses which survive in Northumberland only that at Coanwood has been spared major alteration since its construction in 1760. The date is carved on the lintel above the entrance. It is looked after by the Historic Churches Trust. Almost every gravestone in the tiny churchyard names a Wigham.
